Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony may be getting divorced, but it's looking like one of the most agreeable divorces possible. First of all, while the divorce is still being finalized, the two are working together on a project for Univision, which just scored 2.2 million viewers in its premiere. On "Late Show" (Weeknights, 11:35 p.m. EST on CBS), the "American Idol" judge laughed with David Letterman as he poked and prodded at the fresh remains of their wedding.
"I want to know if they're the same things for you that they would be for anybody," he said when she indicated there were just some things that didn't work in the marriage. As for working with him on their show, "Q'Viva! The Chosen," she says it's great. They collaborate well, but again those communications issues do crop up.
"It's just like you're talking and you don't agree on something and then you're like, 'Oh be quiet!'" Lopez said as explanation for what led to the divorce. It almost sounded playful, as she laughed about it.
But Letterman wouldn't let it go, insisting it was she that said "Be quiet." "I didn't say anything!" she exclaimed. So he rephrased his question.
"Marc would say be quiet to you?" he asked.
"No," was the quick response, followed by more laughter. If only more couples could have divorces so filled with seeming joy and laughter.
Jennifer Lopez can be seen on "American Idol," Wednesdays and Thursdays at 8 p.m. EST on Fox. "Late Show with David Letterman" airs weeknights at 11:35 p.m. EST on CBS.
